TimberHawk Bows is owned and operated by Scott Mitchell, of Bloomington, Indiana.

When Scott is not building bows, he's usually fighting fires.  Scott is firefighter for the Bloomington Fire Department.  This job affords him several days off a week, which he uses to work on custom bows for customers from around the country.  He is also an active member of the Bloomington Archery Club.  If you drop in on any given shoot at this club, you would enjoy a walking gallery of his bows, since many of the members shoot various recurves and longbows he has made over the years.  "Is that a Mitchell bow?" is a common question on the range.

Scott is married to Charlene and has two wonderful kids (who also shoot bows).  He lives near Monroe lake and enjoys hunting on public and private land near his home.

Our Mission

TimberHawk Bows are handcrafted, one at a time, to ensure that every bow that leaves the shop exhibits the kind of beauty and craftsmanship that will make a Timberhawk bow a pleasure to look at as well as shoot. When all is said and done, no matter how beautiful the bow, it's how it shoots that will make it worth owning.

First and foremost, TimberHawk bows are designed for smooth and accurate shooting, allowing for the fastest speed possible without sacrificing those qualities that make a bow useful as a hunting tool or just to enjoy on the target range.

Company Profile

TimberHawk Bows was started not just as a way to make some money, but as a way for bowyer, Scott Mitchell, to use his gifts doing something he enjoys. Since he was a young boy, Scott has enjoyed working with wood, and Timberhawk Bows allows him the opportunity to build the thing that has captured his interest since he was 11 years old.

"I believe that all gifts are bestowed by God, not to glorify ourselves, but to glorify Him" Scott says, and the dedication and seriousness with which he approaches his work manifests themselves in the design and function of each bow. Each Timberhawk bow will have a scripture reference inscribed into the handle.  If you have a favorite verse or passage I will gladly use it.
